Dave's Boots and Dog photograph is proving to be a popular one.  It has been selected to be one of the 63 prints to join the Texas Photographic Society's 24th Annual Members' Only Show (24MOS) Exhibition. This year 185 photographers submitted 1185 photographs for consideration for the exhibition. 24 MOS opens at Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University in Waco, Texas on June 8th and is scheduled to travel other galleries across Texas and the USA over the next 12 months. Dave's photograph can be seen on the right immediately above.

A photograph in Dave's Fear and Loathing in the US of A gallery has been selected as one of the photographs to tour with the Texas Photographic Society's 24th Members' Only Show. The touring exhibition opens at the Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University in Waco, Texas on June 8th. The show will be traveling to other locations in the coming months. March 2010

Dave's photograph of renown Magnum Photos' photographer Elliott Erwitt has been accepted into the permanent collection of comtemporary portaits at the Austin Museum of Art. This is the same photograph that was featured in LeicaShots back in January.

Dave's new street photography exhibition Fear and Loathing in the US of A appears on the walls of Caffe Medici. A favorite at Medici, this is the fifth show he has had at this popular photography-centric hang out in the hip Clarksville area of Austin. [Gallery]

Drinker, Texas, 2006 won the Silver Award in the Metaphor/Abstract category; Reflection, Texas, 2008 won a Merit Award in the Still Life/Objects category, and Subway Boys, New York 2009 won a Merit Award in the Cityscape/Street category. Sweet Spots, Dave's large color photographs taken with a toy Diana camera, returns at Lava Java, a University of Texas student hangout and coffee house. A collection of small prints from the same series makes its debut as well.  No formal opening festivities are planned. [Gallery]

B&W MagazineDave was excited to learn that two of his portfolio contest submission photographs garnered Merit Awards and were published in the B&W Magazine Special Issue: 2009 Portfolio Contest Awards issue. The twp winners, which can be seen here and here, consist of four separate photographs put together to tell a brief photo story. Pulled from a larger submission, these two stories caught the fancy of  the juror.

The Grad Vukovar exhibition is on display during this time at Caffe Medici in Austin, Texas. The show appeared previously as part of the 2007 Fotoseptiembre International Photography Festival. Grad Vukovar (meaning City of Vukovar in Croatian) is photographic exploration of a city's destruction fifteen years after a devastating war. Opening festivities plans are in the works. A short article on how Dave uses some of his camera equipment has been published on the CameraQuest web site. Cameraquest is a California dealer of Voigtlander cameras and lenses.

Three of Dave's black and white street photographs (including two never publicly exhibited before) were selected to be part of the Urban Ambience group show at the Watson Studio Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. Dave's "Salvation" photograph was awarded an Honorable Mention Best in Show. [Urban Ambience Exhibition]

A combined Grad Vukovar and updated New Europeans exhibition opens on this date at Hyde Park Bar & Grill restaurant on Duval Street in Austin. Within this selection of 38 black & white prints several have not previously been on public display. No formal opening festivities are planned.

While Dave is not exactly an iconic photographer in anyone's but his mom's

book, he does have an iconic photograph that he associates wtih his work. This, his most published photograph, won a Merit Award in B&W Magazine's 2008 Single Image Contest and it has been published B&W Special Issue dated February 2008. The photograph can be seen in the Publlished Work gallery here.

 

 
January 28 - April 13, 2008

Three of Dave's color infrared pinhole photographs were selected to be part of the Menage a Trois group show at the Watson Studio Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. Dave's series of three 2006 photographs from Pisa, Italy were selected for the show. These can be viewed in the Alternate Spectrum gallery.

December 2007

An 2007 respective exhibition is set for this month at Thunderbird Coffee on Koenig Lane in Austin. This show will feature prints of the various photographs that Dave had published or won awards for during 2007. [Gallery]

 

Through the end of February, Dave is particating a four-person show at Caffe Medici on West Lynn Boulevard in Austin. This show features the work of the four founding members of Collective Photo Agency::Austin. Interestingly the show is entirely of black & white photographs -- except for Dave's selection of recent color prints. [Gallery]

 

On newsstands until February 29th, find Dave's winning street photography portfolio submission and essay in the January/February 2009 issue of Photo Techniques magazine. The article is entitled Portolio: Street Photography -- A New Take on an Old Genre. See page 20. You can see the winning selections in the Published Work gallery.

The 2007 Photo Review Competition drew 4100 images from 984 entrants from 21 different countries. There were winning 92 entries including one of Dave's. The winning selection is entited Street Vendor, Frankfurt, May 2006 and can be seen here.

Look for the September issue of Black & White Photography magazine currently on  newsstands. One of Dave's Europeans (2006) exhibition photographs appears in this issue on page 33. Look for the August issue of Focus magazine that hits newsstands July 11th. A four page Focus Gallery spread of Dave's photography appears in this issue beginning on page 134.
